University of Central Missouri Thanks to the University of Central Missouri (UCM), Warrensburg is a regional center for culture and the arts. Each year, the university’s Performing Arts Series (PAS) brings internationally renowned artists and entertainers to town, while the Departments of Music, Theatre & Dance present numerous concerts and plays showcasing the work of university students, faculty members and visiting artists. Art Exhibits are displayed in the Gallery of Art & Design, and each year the Pleiades Visiting Writers Series brings writers of national prominence to the university to present and read their works. The annual Show Me Justice Film Festival is an international festival that brings films from around the world to the Midwest to showcase the theme of social justice. The university’s public television station, KMOS-TV, broadcasts art and cultural programming that includes drama, documentaries, concerts and children’s programming. The Servant Leadership Lecture Series, which includes the Ike Skelton Lecture, is presented by UCM and Whiteman Air Force Base, and features public leaders and world thinkers, including politicians, military figures, educators, business leaders and journalists, focusing on the spirit of service and leadership.
