Each year
UCM's Performing Arts Series brings nationally
renowned artists and entertainers to town, while the Oppenheimer Lecture Series features
some of the worlds leading thinkers, writers, and political leaders. There are also
numerous concerts, exhibits and plays showcasing the work of university students and
faculty members.
As for electronic media, the universitys public radio (KTBG) and television station (KMOS) broadcast major segments of arts and cultural programming that include drama, documentaries, concerts, and radio shows with contemporary music..
The regional Show-Me Games attract top-notch athletes each year to compete in track and field, basketball, football, weight lifting, volleyball, wrestling, gymnastics, and other sports.
Trails Regional Library, a consolidated public library system serving 24 communities in Johnson and Lafayette counties, offers a full slate of programs, including childrens story hours, book lecturers, film presentations and reader assistance. The seven libraries within the system, including the Warrensburg facility, maintain more than 137,000 volumes. Materials available for loan include books, periodicals, and audio/visual offerings.
The richness of a community can be measured by the quality of its cultural activities
and resources. Warrensburg has a multitude of such assets.
